I think this week will be all black and white pieces. It'll be really nice to go back and focus on composition, shape, and rhythm without worrying about color.

More from this week's Pocahontas theme. These were more like an hour to an hour and a half. One more to go for this theme! Really loving working in this style though.

Speedy Colors of the Wind

I was looking back at some of the background art from Pocahontas, and loving the styling this week. So, for some quick studies, I've been doing some background re-creation paintings. Really good exercise in compostion studies...hoping that somehow the amazing layouts will just seep into my brain and make me draw that way without thinking about it :) These were all done in about 45 minutes each, using Sketchbook Pro.

Speedy Shrek the Sheep

In honor of Shrek the Sheep's passing....when the shearers came he hid for 6 years, and then became a national hero for Australia....awesomeness. I figure this counts as a full week since it's all the frames of animation :) But I will have to do a couple more paintings of Sir Shrek...he's too epic for words.
